Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 November 2026

These terms govern your use of Oma Suomi at https://omasuomi.com. By creating an account, accessing or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Who we are

Oma Suomi is an independent educational service operated from Finland. Contact us at [email protected].

Oma Suomi is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Finnish National Agency for Education (Opetushallitus) or the official YKI test organisers. YKI is a registered examination; our practice material is independent preparation.

2. The service

Oma Suomi provides online Finnish-language practice for the YKI intermediate level (B1–B2), including vocabulary, spaced review, reading exercises, progress tracking and AI-assisted feedback. Features may change as the service develops.

The service is currently free to use and does not require payment. If we introduce paid features, we will show the price and applicable payment terms before you buy, and these terms will be updated.

We provide practice material, not an official qualification. Using Oma Suomi does not register you for a YKI test or guarantee a particular result.

3. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you do not meet this requirement, please do not register.

Provide accurate account information, keep your password confidential, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity under your account. Do not share your account or sell access to it.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service unlawfully, fraudulently or to harm another person;
  • attempt to access accounts, systems or data you are not authorised to access;
  • scrape, crawl, copy or bulk-download content except as permitted by law;
  • reverse engineer, bypass quotas, security controls or technical protections;
  • interfere with the service, introduce malware or place unreasonable load on it;
  • resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the service or its content without permission;
  • submit content that infringes rights, is unlawful, or contains another person's sensitive personal data.

We may investigate suspected misuse and suspend or close accounts where reasonably necessary to protect the service, other users or legal compliance.

5. Your content and our content

You keep ownership of the answers and other content you submit. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, reproduce and display that content as needed to operate the service, provide feedback, maintain your progress and keep security. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies retained in backups or where the law requires retention.

The service, brand, vocabulary, reading passages, questions, design and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the material for your own learning. You may not republish, redistribute, sell or create a competing dataset from it without our written permission.

Reading answers may be processed by an AI provider to generate provisional feedback. Do not submit confidential information, health information or other sensitive personal data in an answer.

6. AI-assisted feedback

Some reading answers are assessed with an automated AI model. AI feedback is provisional, may be incomplete or wrong, and is not an official YKI assessment. Do not rely on it for legal, immigration, employment or other significant decisions. You remain responsible for checking answers against the passage and for your own exam preparation.

7. Availability and third-party services

We aim to keep the service available, but it is provided on an “as available” basis. We may suspend, change or discontinue parts of the service for maintenance, security, legal or operational reasons. Because the service is free, we do not promise uninterrupted availability or a service-level credit.

The service relies on third-party providers for authentication, database hosting, email delivery, content delivery and AI processing. Their availability and terms can affect the service. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

8. Suspension and ending use

You may stop using the service at any time. To request deletion of your account and learning data, contact us at [email protected] and follow the process in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account if you materially breach these terms, if required by law, or if necessary to protect the service or others. Where reasonable, we will explain the reason and give you a chance to respond.

9. Disclaimers and liability

We work carefully, but the service and its content are provided without a guarantee that they are error-free, complete, current or suitable for a particular exam session. You use the service at your own risk.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost opportunities, lost data or exam outcomes arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or intentional misconduct, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service or law changes. The “Last updated” date shows the current version. For material changes, we will give reasonable notice on the site or by email where appropriate. If you continue to use the service after the effective date, the updated terms apply.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without affecting mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. Before starting a formal dispute, please contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve the issue.

Consumers in Finland may contact the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (Kuluttajariitalautakunta) at kuluttajariitalautakunta.fi. Nothing here prevents you from using a mandatory consumer-dispute process available to you.
